EdICTs has been working with the States of Guernsey since 2000 and has a on-going consultancy agreement to continue supporting their strategic educational development throughout 2012
We have been closely involved with the States Education Department (SED) in the development of education policy and strategy, school network infrastructure, new school buildings, equipment procurement and professional development for teachers. Our work falls between two departments. The School Services Team – pedagogy, curriculum, continuing professional development (CPD) and individual school support; and the Strategic Development Team – infrastructure, networks and educational technologies.
We have been the project managers for initiatives on behalf of the SED involving all schools, phases and sectors of education. The Bailiwick has a selective system with a Grammar School of 1,100 pupils (including sixth form), High Schools, Primary schools, Infant schools and special schools (separate primary and secondary establishments). In addition, EdICTs also supports the independent schools and facilitates as far as possible the development of their systems to mirror or integrate with the States own systems.
Part of our remit has been, and still remains, to work with schools in developing tools for standardisation, benchmarking, mentoring and school improvement strategies through embedding technologies. Some of these have been achieved through the use of the virtual environment, but all have involved EdICTs team working with representatives of the schools to produce an agreed framework of delivery.
Our work schedule requires us to deliver any of the following aspects of consultancy/project management:
- Developing a bespoke strategic leadership training for head teachers and middle management teams based around the SRF and ICT Mark criteria;
- Strategic planning and developing curriculum models;
- Supporting individual schools school improvement plans (REPs)
- Developing CPD programmes for the Bailiwick and for school staff and administrators;
- Carrying out curriculum audits;
- Timetable modelling and re-structuring school days;
- Developing the programmes for education conferences for whole island INSET days, including engaging key note speakers to support local initiatives and managing the actual events;
- Establishing links and visits to mainland schools, organisations and agencies to support on-island developments;
- Design and implementation of new networks and infrastructure for all schools, this includes new build and refurbishment in other schools;
- Procurement advice for hardware and technical solutions for managed services;
- Developing and managing the implementation of a learning platform across all schools.
